VITAMIN B OR NOT TO B?

In the day of newly embraced nutrients, one that I always make sure that patients don’t overlook is a good daily B Complex -100 supplement. The B vitamins act as coenzymes and help support the production of energy from the macronutrients we consume in our diet (proteins, fats and carbohydrates). With today’s food coming from over farmed, nutrient depleted soils we need a security policy to get enough essential nutrients. In addition to a B Complex supplement, I often recommend specific B vitamins replacement for unique needs. Many patients benefit from B12, B-complex injections or IV infusions for specific therapeutic purposes. Always try to eat organic foods whenever possible, vary your diet, and make sure that you get supplementation to buffer the stresses and demands placed on the body.

A brief overview of the components of a B complex:

Thiamine (B1): used to process amino acids, fats and carbohydrates for energy

Riboflavin (B2): supports fatty acids and amino acid synthesis, essential for cellular growth

Niacin (B3): helps reduce the amount of cholesterol and certain fatty substances in the blood

Panthothenic Acid (B5): used to metabolize protein, fats and carbohydrates

Pyridoxine (B6): helps build proteins from amino acids, needed for production of red blood cells, and proper nerve function

Folate (B9): used in synthesis and repair of DNA, needed for red blood cell production

Cyanocobalamin (B12): used in cellular reproduction, brain and nervous system health, blood cell production

Biotin: helps maintain a steady blood sugars, helps strengthen hair and nails

Vitamin B or not to be? The answer is simple as you can see. The humble and simple B vitamins are critical to vital health.

Wishing your excellent, abundant and vital health, Dr. Dave
