STOP HIDING BEHIND THE TREES OF THE GARDEN.

,

God is Sovereign. He knows why ‘that’ just happened, He knows what is ‘going’ to happen. As believers we are not to be scared of the future, no matter what circumstances are around us, no matter how bad the economy is…

If we fail to believe in who God REALLY is there is an alternative: We actually make idols for ourselves— a false image of God in our minds. Then, this is the god that we end up believing in. He may be cruel, unforgiving, stubborn, and impatient; he looks a lot like our insecurities.

Jeremiah 23:24 says: “Can a man hide himself in hiding places, so I do not see him? Declares the Lord. Do I not fill the heavens and the earth? Declares the Lord? We can compare this to Adam and Eve in the garden in Genesis 3:6 where they sinned and attempted to hide themselves from the Lord. Could they really hide themselves from the Lord?

The Lord asks a rhetorical question in Jeremiah 3:24: Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?

Since He is omniscient, omnipresent, and Sovereign; it is pointless to hide from Him like Adam and Even in the Garden. Therefore we can face our idols head on, look at them straight in the eye, believe God is who He says He is and let that renew our minds; enabling us to get rid of the idols and false views we have of Him.

Have you ever climbed to the top of a mountain or a high place? You can see everything from up there all at once! Well that’s how God sees all of history- our past, present, and future. God sees our past, present, and future all at once. He is Sovereign. Psalm 103: 19 says- “The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His sovereignty rules over all.” Additionally, Isaiah 45:12 says- “It is I who made the earth, and created man upon it. I stretched out the heavens with My hands and I ordained all their host.”

To combat the idols of unbelief- the Apostle Paul in speaking to the Corinthian believers in (1 Cor 15:19) stated: “If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitted more than all men.” What does this mean? Simply, If God is not who He says He is, then, as the Apostle Paul said,we are to be pitied more than all men. All hope is gone, life is meaningless; There is no purpose, why are we even here??? Work like a dog, come home, go to bed; then repeat the same process every day??? If God is not who He says He is, it simply would be the greatest deception in the history of the world!

Remember- “what comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” Now watch this- At ALL points in life we are dealing with God and we CAN AND MUST RESPOND APPROPROATELY. How do we do that? BELIEVE on His Sovereignty, BELIEVE on who HE IS.

The word BELIEVE is mentioned in the Bible 131 times.

Just like believing that He died on the cross for us, that He rose again for us, BELIEVE He is who He says He is. Believe on His attributes that He has chosen to reveal to us in the Scriptures. Let that flood your mind and overwhelm you, let it affect everything you do and say, let it change your outlook- it’s all about Who He IS.

This builds unshakable faith because it no longer is about me… I suddenly get much smaller; and instead God becomes much bigger.
