GUYS – TIME FOR A NEW STYLE! “POMP” IT UP!!

Hi Guys! My my beautiful Editor Doreen said “Michael. Don’t Forget our Male Reader” … So of course

I wouldn’t Dream of it. So, “Hair” it is, Guys (you all know I’d have to add a rug to do this)!

Have you seem Mad Men or Magic City? If you have you know that the Pompador is alive and well and at the fore front of Menls fashion. Read GQ or Cosmo. Look at TV. They are back and pomping up everywhere! Eat your heart our James Dean and Fabian!!

What does it look like?

It’s shorter on the Sides and a tapered. Back and a high, pouffy front. It got its name from Madame Pompadour who was known to wear her hair high. Immune Front, a Barber in the mid 1950’s adapted it from the style of the Greasers (think Elvis), and it caught on. It was easy for a guy who had a flat to let the top grow out, a style a surfer could do this style and still look cool on the beach.

About 2 months ago Doreen’s Son Greg had a question for me about a style for his longer hair. Well, I sent him a few pictures, one of which was the Pompador, which he really liked and got his hair cut. He looks amazing!! And people have noticed!

Along with the Pompadour it’s become acceptable for guys to add lighter tips to their hair (look at the lead actor in Magic City, you will see what I mean), and for them to wear the summer Buzz.

The Goateec clean-shaven or tight stubble is in. Last year the mustache made a cameo appearance, but most of them either vanished or became the ever popular goatee.

And, for the younger crowd (and those who think they are younger), the warm weather’s here and it’s not just the Bees Buzzing! Have you seen the Hair Tattoo’s? They’re everywhere !!

The Crop Up (literally) is on every kind of young guy (and young woman) no matter what their circumstances in life are. They make a statement. And, of course, the mohawk is still with

us. Be the real “Mo” or the Modified-Faux, the Mohawk makes a statement. It was used as a rite of passage, first with Native American tribes, then College tribes (fraternities), sports teams, and of course, the military. I was a teen in the Seventies and the Mohawk was essential coiffe of a “True Punker” lacquered tight, sometimes feet high, dyed wild colors. It was the ultimate anti-main stream hair statement. Nowadays it maybe ornaments with the new hair tattoos. So watch the sizzling summer styles (on The Guys!). From sophisticated to wild to gone (bald is beautiful…I ought to know)!

In any case guys, make your statement. Why look good when you can look Great! ™

Just ask me what’s right for you. I’m Michael, and thanks for taking the time to read my column.

DON’T FREEZE YOUR LOOK. . . (YOU MIGHT BE LEFT OUT IN THE COLD!)

I am often told when I am doing make-up, “well, I always use. . . “

Well, if you’ve always used the same lipstick, eyeshadow, blush, foundation, etc., etc. for the last 25 years. . . you might just be dating yourself (and that’s lonely!). I’m not suggesting that you should throw out the whole look, but if you look like someone out of the 1970’s and you’re in your 50s, we gotta talk!

Our skin changes. Color, texture, elasticity. The eyes change. Brow shapes and styles change. I can tell when a woman first started to use makeup sometimes by what’s in her handbag.

Look at current celebs. We’ll use Lady Ga Ga — she’s good for an example. I love her, but she’s a bit extreme. Look at a celeb with your coloring, age range and someone whose look you like. I can help you achieve “that look”. Just ask Michael (see above link to ask me a question!).

Let’s see what eyes and lips (the most tramatic differences) can do to change your look, even a little, to update your colors.

So, ask me.

I can create a look we will both like. Make-up is like cooking. I have my recipes and you are gonna add your own spece to make that look your own, which is the way it should be. And, working together, I can create a formula which can work with you (as you are) and your work, your lifestyle and your individual point of view.

So, don’t be left out in the cold. Be the best possible, beautiful you!

Why look good when you can look great! ™

Until next week! I’m Michael – ask me!

Authored by: Michael Waterman

I am Michael Waterman. I have been known as an authority on make-up and skin care for decades. Why? I am a fortunate person. I was a freelancer in Cosmetics for a long time. In 1986 I caught the eye of company called Intelligent Skin care (I.S.) they are an incredible Japanese cosmetic company. They combined nature and high-tech Beauty science, and I was thrilled to be a part of their team. I discovered so much about what Americans wanted in a Skin care/Make-Up line (and I had to do it with a Japanese Cosmetic company!). We used state of the art (in 1985) machines and computers to test and advise our clients of the condition of their skin. I learned so very much. In1989 I was honored to join the exclusive team of skin care and make-up professionals at the world famous Georgette Klinger Spas. Ms. Klinger took a liking to me and became my mentor and a loving force in my life. Georgette Klinger was the reining authority on skin care. She brought old world know-how herbal wisdom and science into a whole new Genre -- The spa. In 1939 she came to America From Europe and single handedly revolutionized the Science of Beauty. I was with her for 17 years and became one of the most requested Make-Up artists and Skin care Professionals in her company . I know she would be proud of Me today. I still feel her spirit with me as I do my work, and I keep the principles she taught me. My clients are the better for it.
