an apple a day helps you play!

The major premise behind my website, www.timetoplay.com, is that to enjoy the spare time we all find in a day we need to be health conscious. I try to incorporate as much educational resources for my website visitors so they can understand the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle is in order to get the most out of life.

Who has the stamina or is in the mood to enjoy a beautiful, invigorating hike after a Double Quarter Pounder with bacon & cheese with a side of fries and an apple fritter? Personally, a meal like that would keep me weighted down on my couch for a week (not including a trip to the bathroom!).

Isn’t it ironic that apple season falls right before flu season? It is the best time of year on Long Island to go out east and pick bushels of apples to bring home. An apple a day will keep the flu shot away!

I try very hard to keep myself and my family on the path of healthy daily habits. I won’t deny there are many temptations, like the pizza place around the corner from my office. Oh the cheesy, greasy, garlic-y GREATNESS. Every once and awhile I will of course treat myself to a slice for lunch but usually I balance it with an apple. A crunchy, juicy, shiny, tart, beautiful apple!

My point is that we cannot starve ourselves of the little pleasures in life. Whether that be a great slice of pizza or a short walk on the beach when we have a pile of laundry to do. The balance of life always allows some time for the little things we truly enjoy.

You can always take that short walk on the beach with your slice of pizza and kill two birds with one stone 😉
